I’ve been using mine for awhile and have been quite pleased. After several uses, I’ve noticed a substantial color-shade difference between the carpet this has been used on and the carpet it has not been used on.
One of the great features about this unit is that it has the option to turn the ProHeat on or off. This is great for those of us with lots of rugs that cannot have hot water used on them. This cleaner has done a much better job on my rugs than on my carpet. I suspect it has something to do with the padding under the carpet, but I’m not sure. Some of my 20-yr old rugs look brand new after one use of this. I think part of it is that the suction is so substantial on this that while it is sucking up the solution, it actually yanks out a lot of the loose fibers that were making my rugs look a little tattered and frayed. They look great now.
I’ve used the spot cleaners around my car and it has done a great job, aside from the work this cleaner has done on my rugs, the ability to clean my car, myself, has been one of the great features. Makes it so easy to clean coffee spills, etc. out of the seats and floor carpets.
As for my home carpet, I still feel that professional cleaners do a better job, but for a home unit, this will work well if you use it a few times. Don’t expect it to look professionally cleaned after only one use, especially if it has been a long time since your last carpet cleaning.
This unit is very heavy for me. I had to have my husband help me lug it up and down the stairs. The weight is something to consider if you aren’t very strong and would need help toting it around your house. All-in-all, I’m very pleased. It’s the best home unit I’ve ever used.

The Bissell ProHeat 66Q4 2X Deep Cleaner is a great improvement to units I have used in the past. I have had experience with models that do not heat the water (simply relies on hot water you put into it) and rented models that usually do a wonderful job. After using it on both a heavy traffic area of carpet and an area that I thought had little dirt, I was amazed. It seemed to lift dirt out of areas that “appeared” to be clean already. There were some tough spots that needed extra attention, but the Bissell ProHeat certainly lives up to expectations.
The unit is not small or light, but for a carpet cleaner it is certainly on par with others. The option to heat the water is great, but of course it’s not for every kind of material and it can be easily turned off. The settings are a great feature. You can use the hot air system to dry items faster or use the heavy duty spot cleaning for tough areas. It also has settings for light or normal cleaning. Combined with the ability to treat spots with extra cleaner, you can clean just about anything. Most units do not come with the options and settings available on the Bissell 66Q4.
Generally speaking, this unit outperforms the majority of cleaners that I have used. The cleaning power and options available really make it stand out.

Outstanding product. We have a dog so this is our 4th steam cleaner and this is by far the best. Our carpet looks like new after just one cleaning. I especially love that the tools is attached instead of having to attach like many other models. The tools allow you to easily clean hard to get to areas such as stairs.
There is one improvement I would suggest. The water repository needs to be attached over the lip of the part that sucks up the dirty water. It is very awkward to get back on. I would suggest in future models that it be improved.

In the lower level of our home, we have a guest room and a hallway that are covered in 16-year-old grey berber carpeting that has clearly seen better days (not to mention years). So we didn’t hold out a lot of hope when we used the Bissell ProHeat 2X Healthy Home Upright Deep Cleaner, since a home improvement store rental a couple of years earlier couldn’t seem to freshen it up much.
Here’s the positive: The cleaner has a built-in heater that keeps that hot water hot, or, at least warm, making for a deeper clean. And, unlike some home cleaners, it’s quite easy to load with water and cleaning solution without having to do complicated maneuvres in your sink.
Here’s the negative: Like most heavy-duty carpet cleaners–the Bissell 66Q4 is quite heavy, especially when transporting it up and down stairs. A good plan would be to reinstall the water and solution tanks AFTER you move it.
Most problematic is the cord, which, although plenty long, keeps getting in the way, no matter where you try to reposition it.
But the cleaner ultimately comes through where it really counts–turning dull, matted carpeting into something resembling its old self–and it smells much better, too.
